 Let me explain...I was training clients in a group and after the class was over a few came up to ask some questions as usual. Then, the last person had a really frustrated look on her face, she came up to me and said she was disappointed because she hadn't lost any weight but had some results with increase in muscle tone showing in the leaner parts of her body while increasing her balance, core strength, overall strength, endurance and flexibility in 2 months of doing our program...

 

 

Laurie: I don't understand why I am not losing weight...before I began fitness classes I had not exercised in over a year and now I am working out so hard that it should help me lose the weight but the scale stays the same.

 

Me: There are several contributing factors to weight loss but the most important one is Nutrition. Did you know if you ran a 10K right now you would not even burn 1 pound of fat? Some people have this crazy thinking that they can cheat a little more since they are exercising but in fact this could be self sabotage. 

 

Laurie: I am not eating that much my calorie intake is less than 1400 so I do watch that pretty good.

 

Me: What does your diet look like?... tell me what you are eating throughout the day?

 

Laurie: I just east a salad for lunch and something like a lean cuizine OR chicken and pasta for dinner

 

Me: Anything when you wake up?

 

Laurie: I am not hungry when I wake up but I eat fat free yogurt and a banana for breakfast or special K cereal when I have time a few hours later

 

Me: What about after workouts?

 

Laurie: After each workout I go to the gas station up the street and drink a Gatorade on my way home crystal light or mio

 

Me: How much water do you drink through the day? 

 

Laurie: uhmm... 1-2 bottles 

 

Me: What else do you drink?

 

Laurie: I have to have a diet coke in the morning and around 2pm or tea sweetened with splenda

 

Me: Obviously, eating less isn't the answer...

 

So...after this conversation I got Laurie actually doing what she needed to do to get RESULTS after I explained it to her, but I almost lost her as a client ...who could blame her 2 months and no results stinks. That's a lot of hard work to put in and NOT see any results.
